1. The project is worth 30% of your final grade.
2. The assignments are treated as milestones so that the final project will get finished. They are not marked, but I do keep a record of who has handed them in should there be a major problem with the final project.
3. The project will be evaluated on 2 main issues: the functionality of the retrieval system, and the look and feel of the interface.
4. Functionality of the retrieval system is primarily the vector space model of retrieval and Rocchio feedback plus any extra functionality you may build in.
5. The look and feel of the interface is the GUI interface. I will be looking for ease of use, help functions, what facilities have you used (buttons, popup menus, pulldown menus, pullright menus, etc., etc., etc.).
6. A major part of the final evaluation will be my testing of the system. I will schedule individual viewings.
7. Your system should be as sophisticated as possible. You may wish to break the final milestone down into 2 parts, the retrieval system and the interface on top of the retrieval system.
8. I will use a project marking template when I review your system.
9. Note that all handins are due at the time of your project presentation.
