Menen is the graduate administrator for the Faculty of Computer Science. She maintains a sound working knowledge of policies and procedures required for the administration of the graduate programs, acting as a resource and advisor to the students, faculty members and colleagues
Menen is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Upon the completion of her formal education, Menen worked as a secretary for a training centre. She moved to Luleå, Sweden for five years where she worked as a nursing assistant in a nursing home as well as an interpreter for immigration, translating Amharic to Swedish. In 1996, Menen moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, working as a nanny and daycare teacher before joining the Faculty of Computer Science in 2000.
